So... rather than say, put up an anime they plugged through Gaia, they choose those...

Animes that wouldn't have wide appeal like oh...

Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle?

Just saying, you would think considering there was a decent bit of advertising of that and the TRC/xxxHolic double feature, it'd make more sense if they showed that and not all the others.

Still, aside from the fact Gaia's a pretty... average MySpace ripoff (which it wasn't in the beginning...), it's cool to see them doing this.

Now if only, if ONLY, I could see something related to funimation I'm actually concerned about...

Although compared to Crunchyroll, Gaia is a better site, but not by much. Before I quit going to that site, I can clearly remember most of the staff members looking the other way whenever there was a serious arguement. Not to mention I am heard of staff members being bribed.

Funimation is smart, hope this works out well.

Haven't they been doing this for a while? I remember watching the first episode of peach girl with one of my friends in this movie theater type thing there.

The economy's tough and so they are choosing what they can. Tsubasa I think would be added later. I am waiting for when (and if) they add streams to Heroic Age, Blassreiter, and Druaga. Since I have scene all three, I want to see it dubbed. There's a chance Funimation won't have such a hard time for translating the Druaga and Blassreiter scripts since their subs are legitimately translated from Japanese. Possibly most accurate translations one can get is when representatives from the official company translate it into English.

As a person who is very little about fight the power and cares little for economics, I can say this without a doubt:

Gaia is controlled corporately in more ways than I've seen on other sites.

They haven't bothered to venture forth and ever really take a risk. They have their successes here and there but at the same time, they've become too much of a 'billboard' in a way.

It's... why I kinda became less and less fond of the site. The whole integration of outside forces helping to make the decisions... The fiasco's over the 'in game sponsor based content' and what not...

It's just been unpleasant for a while now.

And as a person who used to browse Site Feedback a lot, it was just a really bad place to go. That was the one and only place where I saw opinions at their most 'powerful' and most 'abused' form. Be it people yelling at other people to stop complaining or complainers towering over those who had a disagreement with them...

It's like if you took the behavior of ANY other normal forum and infected them with the rage virus from 28 days later.

...Odd comparison, but it holds in my mind. I'm getting off topic though...

Now I don't feel like buying anything from Funimation again.
The Gaia-type anime fans are the ones I loathe. A bunch of screaming teens and pre-teens going "LOL POCKY FOR TEH WIN!!111" and thinking that Naruto is the best anime ever made and that Twilight "SHOULD TOTALLY BE MADE INTO ANIME YOU GUYS".

And no, I don't hate anyone who's ever had a gaia account. The site mentality just makes me go crazy. I wish they had never heard of anime.

And people wonder why stuff like Kaiba never gets licensed.

They'll be ways to get around not being able to watch those series, for those who don't choose to go to Gaia. I went on there once, and never went back. And with all the things I hear about it, I don't really care to go back either. Reminds me of 4chan too.

I'm sorry, what? Where did that come from? The fact that Funi is reaching out to as wide an audience as possible?

Never heard of Gaia Online before. As I'm always keen on experimenting, I've registered on that page. Tried the first episode of Black Blood Brothers. The good thing is, there seems to be no region lock. The bad thing is, video quality is not so good. Very blocky, subtitles of the opening aren't easy to read anymore. Real fullscreen isn't possible, too (at least for me there's a black frame around the whole movie). Further, my browser (Maxthon [IE]) has crashed several times.
The episode I've tried is dubbed, which I don't like, but some people wouldn't have a problem with that...

Maybe just for the anime, but I strongly recommend against any contact with the community. They are 4chan type people and are somewhat rabid fanboys/fangirls at that, with attitudes towards their anime fandom as that of a 13 year old on Newgrounds.

Don't. I can say from experience that it really isn't pleasant. Just stick to Funimation's website for your episode previews.

Sorry you feel that way.

One of the main reasons we're putting content on Gaia is to attract the next generation of anime fans.

Toonami was the gateway for many an anime fan whom are in their 20s now.

With Toonami gone, what is this generation's Toonami?

The Internet.

We have to cast a wide net to attract the crowds of Toonami's past.
