And where is the actual book announcements? I have been waiting how many years for the next installment of Play Boy Blues and its on the an ereader? Bah I say! I am so sick of all these titles only going to ereaders. I understand the appeal to them but I prefer my books in physical format. Thats just the collector in me.

I want actual books! I am not going to shell out God knows how much for an e-reader!

I want a physical copy also. I distrust the ebooks after that 1984 thing (if I buy it, they shouldn't be able to suck it away), but realistically it's a whole lot cheaper for them to not print books that may or may not sell.
This is the opposite of fansubs. Fansubs is the audience forcing their will on the publishers with the publishers not seeing any money for it. At least here one has the typical consumer option of not buying.
I hadn't realized there were ways to read it on one's computer. I might have to look into it. I've been waiting to see which format would win (the old VHS/Betamax deal), but if I can buy the books & read them while I'm waiting, that's ok also.
I just dislike sitting at my computer reading. I read books in an entirely different setting otehrwise.

Evolve or go extinct.
You are allowed to evolve grudgingly, complaining every step of the way.

Agree with everyone above. I prefer physical books and can't get used to the idea of e-books yet, although I know it's inevitable. By that, I mean it's inevitable that e-books will become more popular as a medium and that I'll have to buy a Kindle or I-Pad and start reading them eventually - not that it's inevitable that physical books will disappear, because they won't. But at some point, there will be enough material coming out on e-books exclusively, such that I'll have to add this medium to my reading life.

I'd like to be able to read this new Pet on Duty story, but I'm not prepared to shell out for a Kindle just yet. Wink

You don't need an e-reader device like Kindle or IPad to read the kindle books. Amazon has a free reader for your computer that allows you to read the kindle books without having the actual e-reader device. Smile

Personally, I'm happy with the new digital books and look forward to hopefully lots more. If they keep the price low (say $2-5 for a book, depending on book), then I'm all for it! I can buy more, have no worries about shelf-space (or lack thereof) and can carry it {and more of them} with me anywhere easily.

Anyone tried these out on the PC-Kindle yet?
I tried "Games With Me" but the image was too small to read easily, and there was no way to zoom in.
Not sure if other manga have this problem, or if it was specific to this title ...

Hmm, that's interesting about the free Kindle reader for the PC. Kind of like Adobe Reader, but for ebooks. Wink I've actually also seen some ebook digital publishers that sell ebooks in PDF form, so Adobe Reader literally becomes an ebook reader device on your computer.

The problem remains, however, what CCSYueh said above - that one is still reading books on one's computer, when - IMO - taking a physical book to Starbucks or to an outdoor cafe or elsewhere and enjoying the cover and flipping the pages and reading - just feels better. Sitting at the computer is too reminiscent of work. Wink But I do get the advantages of ebook readers (can carry lots of "books" in one package, saves the trees, etc.).

Wow lots of negative comments about this. I don't have a Kindle, but have the free Kindle reader for my PC and for my Android and I LOVE these releases. Even though the Droid screen is tiny, I can read it clearly. Though I'll appreciate it when they get zoom.

But since the releases are electronic we get them quickly and cheaply, and with good translations. That's what I'm looking for. I wouldn't mind if they also offered a physical copy, but I have too many of those as it is. I'd much rather buy most of my manga in eformat, and then only buy those I love in paper format.

YAY Animate and Libre! Keep bringing the books out, because I'd never get to read them otherwise.

Edit: I just looked at PBB and Sound of my Voice for Kindle. They are releasing them one *chapter* at a time. So beware that this new release is only the second part of each previously published volume one. I dislike that this was not clearly detailed in any description, but that I had to hear it from a review.
