Oh no.....Nelvana and funnie... what horror will this unholy pairning conceive. Perhaps Cardcaptor Sakura will be renamed Card Crusher Z and will be completely redubbed with wailing guitar rock and wrestling music.

Yes it is a pretty evil scheme indeed but Card Captor Sakura was already dubbed before.. and FUNimation will be releasing Nelvana titles that are most popular in the U.K.. so expect FUNimation to be releasing non-anime titles.

Well... Nelvana has an extensive back catalogue, you know. Maybe now Rock n' Rule will make it to DVD at long last.

Rolling Eyes Really, when was the last time FUNi released a title like that, 1996? Quit complaining about their past and try looking at the stuff their doing right now... or die trying.

Even Nelvana allowed Pioneer to do an UNCUT SUBTITLED version of Cardcaptor Sakura and people still bitch about them. What does it take to make you people happy? Howabout taking off the blinders and actually pay attention to the stuff happening around you TODAY not three, five, seven, 10 years ago!

[/end rant]

Hopefully, this means that Funi DVDs shall become slightly easier to find in stores in Canada, because I haven't seen the Fruits Basket anime anywhere locally, and I fear for the local availability of the Tenchi Muyo GXP DVDs (which I'm actually looking forward to more than the 3rd OVA series because I always found the Galaxy Police to be the most exciting plot element).

This could be an excelent time for FUNi to test the grounds on a more world wide level, especially where the press release comments so much on the UK.

Mad Listen Emerje, I was just making a joke. What gives you the right to go off on me? Are you one of those sad sad people that skulk around forums just looking to argue with someone to satisfy some lacking sense of self worth? Do me a favor and don't mouth off to me like that again. I'd very much appreciate it. For you see I am entitled to both, the right to a sense of humor and the right to a personal oppinion. I don't like Funimation because of how the consistantly changed and ruined Dragonball. And I don't like Nelvana for doing the same to Card Captor Sakura. Many people feel that way, and we do because fwe feel the original works should be respected. As for what they're doing right now, it's not outstanding compared to what other companies are doing. And as for paying attention to what's happening around me today, I'm more than aware of the current industries status. I don't think you are in the position to school me on anything like that, trust me.

Cool &-

Play nice, children.

Kirolinau, Emerje has a point. Recycling hatred of companies from years and years ago is, basically, holding a grudge. You were "joking" but then go on to complain about FUNi "ruining" Dragonball even though they've given you an uncut, subtitled version. The same thing happened with Card Captor Sakura. The original version was "respected" because it was released, uncut and subtitled. Saying that FUNi isn't worth your accolade because you disagree with past decisions and their current releases aren't a million times better than everything else out there is, I think, a smidgen unfair. FUNimation has changed with the anime industry in the US, and they've done an admirable job of it. Nobody can argue that point. Look at their releases of Fruits Basket and Blue Gender, for an example. Choosing to ignore what these companies have done right in favor of being nasty just to be nasty is.. well, it doesn't make any sense and makes you seem like you'd much rather hate them than actually take recent changes into consideration. Which is silly.

As much as you have the "right to an opinion", Emerje has a right to disagree with you. That's what this forum is for. Debate. If you don't like the thought of someone disagreeing with you (and rightfully so, I might add) then perhaps you shouldn't put your opinion out there at all, since no matter where you do it, someone will take issue with what you have to say, regardless of what you're saying. That's life.

Yay! I hope the release the Sam & Max cartoon. That show rocked.

Indeed, that was a good show

I imagine there are a few things in this back catalog that might interest me. Although I am not too greatly given to fits of nostalgia.

They changed DragonBall!? Really!? How so!? Did they remove the major super complex story line of a villian appearing, new levels of power being reached, and using the balls to bring back the dead? Nope... didn't think so Razz

Although, IMO I believe Toei "ruined" DragonBall Z...

First off, jokes are supposed to be funny. What you posted ammounted to no more than the same Anti-FUNimation, Anti-4Kids Entertainment, and Anti-Nelvana banter that I'm tired of hearing everyday. You made you're oppinion fairly obvious and I doubt you were actually joking as much as you were satirically exaguarting the situation out of your own contempt for FUNi and Nelvana.

As much as you are allowed to form an oppinion, I'm allowed to counter it, that is afterall the nature of debate.

Also, try not to make things too personal in your posts. What I said was a counter to your perspective, but what you said was an outright attack on me.

I though KiroLinau's joke was kind of funny.

I think KiroLinau referring to DB's first dub. FUNi messed DB when they first got it, and they cancelled DB and bought DBZ. FUNi later redubbed and fixed DB, and that's the DB we see today. I think the the old FUNi DB is horrible compared to the new FUNi DB.

Alright, alright, break it up, okay? Let's not resort to bickering here.

I for one think that the team-up will be good. FUNimation's been producing some really good products these past few years, and quite frankly, I trust them with every anime title they get their hands on. Yes, Cardcaptors will always be a bruise mark on Nelvana's record in the eyes of anime fans, but considering that Card Captor Sakura was still made available to fans uncut on DVD, I have no problem with it. In my opinion, it may be rough when shows are edited for TV, but if the uncut version can be made available on DVD, and easily accessible to fans, then I'm happy.
