Sweet Jesus, I feel at least half as hyped as when the sets were finally announced in the first place.

Wow, what lovely sets. I'm definitely tempted to import with all the material and extras that's included.

These are surprisingly affordable considering it's Japan, and Eva. I would be all over them if there were English subs (translations of the booklets would be wonderful too... a girl can dream). But maybe this means we can hope for a nice blu-ray release of Eva in the states eventually.

I wouldn't expect a domestic release anytime soon. There is a chance there won't ever be one, at least for the near future.

Though there will probably be a import release (like Madoka Magica: Rebellion) at near or at the same price as the Japanese release.

This is a rather good deal considering the amount of content you are getting, all episodes, both the films, alternative versions of episodes, OST, a ton of on disc extras and booklets.

They missed out on not including English subtitles, they could of got more export sales.

It would be nice to see something like this in the west, along with a new dub and cast. But that may be awhile.

With all these special features, I think that it might justify the price. This is also you when factor in the impact that Eva has had.

Literally the best release ever and no english subtitles ... makes me sad. I am tempted to try and import just to have it in my collection.

Being an anime fan outside of Japan is kind of depressing.

Much like Wolf's Rain, it sounds good in theory but it didn't pass my "But you'd have to watch it again" test the last time and even a newly dubbed HD transfer couldn't change my mind about the heart of the show.

It should be streaming though, I'm not heartless. I wouldn't want the reboot movies be the only visual examples of the franchise outside of Japan.

And right, any set of Evangelion that has End of Evangelion would be a...

Where do I even begin? It's less a "what was that?" and more of a "Why was that?" ending.

I'm so glad I pre-ordered this from the very moment the pre-order was made available at amazon japan, thanks to that I got a steep discount and my box is only ~25,000 yen (after tax) with a 1,800 yen shipping fee.

Still, I'm a bit annoyed at the move Khara has done with these box sets, with both having different additional content, forcing some of us to either order the other box set or to resort to downloading, and they're not exactly cheap... though as some have noticed, the price is LOW, very low for a Japanese release which usually goes for around 60,000 yen with just the plain 26 episodes and maybe some little extras; here we get the TV series, extra episodes, alternative episodes, movies, revisions of the movies, re-revision of the movies, trailers, more trailers, moar trailers, MOAR trailers, the original casting sellection recordings (!) for most of the main cast, etc. for only 38,000 yen (41,040 yen after tax).

This reminds me of the Box Set released on June 25 2003 and the second one released on August 1 2007, they both had quite a few exclusive never-seen-before extras, but at the same time they only came with the plain TV episodes and some alternative versions of a few scenes, I was about to get the first one (it has a much cooler box), but as I was looking around for a seller, I got the notice regarding the Blu-ray set and... well, even if I want them, they're both twice the price of the new Blu-ray box, so I might look at them when I have some extra money.

Well, now we only have to wait for the UHD box-sets, with all the existing content of EVA in existance safe for some stuffs saved for the 16K revision.

Initiated a PO at Amazon.co.jp as soon as word of release was announced months ago. This anime is such a seminal piece the decision to shell out a few hundred was easy even if I can't read, speak, understand Japanese. If it eventually comes out with English subtitles I guess I'll get that one also but at the rate Evangelion 3.33 is plodding along (PO is at least 1.5 years old already at RightStuf) I suspect I'll be dead from natural causes (I'm 67) when it does release.

Well darn. I really wanted subs on this. I can't quite bring myself to import something that I can't really rewatch, so this is going to be a no-buy for me. Oh well.

With subs? I kind of doubt it. It would be pretty awesome though.
