Shimakaze is not a battleship. Shimakaze is/was a destroyer.

You people really need to learn your warship terminology.

Battleship? Huh? Her displacement was an order of magnitude smaller than the smallest battleships of the day.
Either call her a destroyer - which is what she actually was - or just use the generic label 'warship'. |

The scaled destroyer will make Shimakaze feel like she's a huge owner of a warship.

This is the 2nd Kantai headline in as many days, where they say "Battleship" yet there isn't a battleship to be seen. The Team is "Warship" A destroyer is a warship so is a battleship but they are types of warship. -G BA History |

63 dollars? That's pretty awesome actually for a figure and a kit. I'd rather have a BB instead of a DD but, eh. I'll patiently wait for a Bismarck or Kongou.
77 dollars on Tokyo Otaku Mode with free shipping..not too shabby. Maybe I'l finally take a dip into figures. |

The model brings back fond memories, I put together a number of WWII Ship kits in 60's as well as buying the little pre-built sets with US / British / French / German / Japanese ships. I like the turret and gun articulation, the default molded colors are nice but let me at it with my airbrush and I could make it into something that Shimakaze the Girl would be proud of.

A big-boobed blonde next to a model of a ship that has big guns? How appropriate.

Except they are not "big" guns. The Shimakaze had 5 inch guns, rather small as guns go on a warship. Big guns would be the 16 inch guns of the Yamato. What the Shimakaze and other destroyers had were the Long Lance torpedoes. Those were deadly ship killers. |

The torpedoes part is definitely strong with the blonde.

Can I just get the Shimakaze without the rabbit girl?

The four Iowas had 16" guns. The Yamato and Musashi had 18.1" guns, the largest ever mounted to a warship. As it turns out they were so huge as to be impractical. |
