25 artists to perform to benefit schoolchildren recovering from earthquake

On Friday, a group of anime song artists will gather to perform an "Anison Smile" charity event to benefit the children recovering from the March 11 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.

The event will be held at the Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo. Tickets for the event cost 3,900 yen (about US$48), and 900 yen (US$11) of the ticket price, as well as all donations collected at the event, will be given to elementary schools and boards of education in the prefectures that were hit by the earthquake and resulting tsunami. The funds will go towards replacing supplies such as harmonicas and other musical instruments needed for classes, penmanship sets, uniforms and hats, lunches, and teaching materials.

The event organizers have invited 100 families from the affected areas to stay overnight in Tokyo to attend the concert.

The following artists will perform 1-2 anime theme songs at the event:

Special guests will include Hiroshi Takasaki and Toshiyuki Tachikawa, and Takuma Terashima and Juri Aikawa will emcee the event.

A promotional video for the event is currently streaming on YouTube:
