Arakawa Under the Bridge Pop-Up Shop to Open in Tokyo

posted on by Egan Loo
Shop to showcase live-action show's costumes, Village Chief photo-ops, manga art

The Parco department store in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district will host a pop-up premium shop for the Arakawa Under the Bridge franchise from November 18 to 27. The shop will showcase the actual costumes from the recent live-action television adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura's comedy manga, along with original and reproduced manga art. The shop celebrates the release of the live-action show's Blu-ray & DVD boxes on November 23.

In the story, an upper-class young man named Ko "Riku" Ichinomiya (Kento Hayashi) meets a beautiful homeless girl named Nino (Mirei Kiritani) from the banks of Arakawa River, where many of Tokyo's most unusual residents live. The shop will display the costumes of Riku, Nino, the Village Chief (Shun Oguri), Hoshi (Takayuki Yamada), Sister (Yu Shirota), and Maria (Nana Katase). On November 19, 23, 26, and 27, the Village Chief will make a special appearance for photo opportunities — although Parco cautions that its Village Chief will not be played by Oguri.

People who spend 3,000 yen (about US$39) or more on original goods such as mobile phone straps (pictured left) will receive an exclusive Arakawa Under the Bridge clear file (pictured above).
