AKB48 Idols Cosplay as AKB0048 Anime Characters

AKB48 idol group member Sayaka Nakaya and AKB48 trainee Karen Iwata cosplayed as the characters they will voice in the AKB0048 anime during the "tvk Anime Festival 2012" event in Yokohama City on Tuesday. In December, the performers won their respective roles as Orine Aida and Nagisa Motomiya for the television anime also inspired by the idol group.
Nakaya and Iwata wore mostly pink and white costumes with wigs that precisely reproduced their characters' unique outfits. Although not in cosplay, the voice actresses Akemi Kanda (Yūko) and Ryoko Shiraishi (Takamina) also appeared at the event and revealed that they just finished recording the series' first episode.
The anime's story is set in a post-apocalyptic future when AKB0048 assumes the name of the legendary idol group AKB48. The developing idols hold guerrilla concerts to combat the Super Galactic Alliance's Entertainment Prohibition Law.
The series will premiere on April 29 on TV Kanagawa at 11:00 p.m.
