The game developer Square Enix began streaming the first five-minute promotional video for the Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter (Super High-Speed Transforming Gyrozetter) arcade game on Thursday.
The arcade game will have two modes: The first will be a driving mode where players can choose a car and a course and race, and the second "robot battle mode" will involve fighting in the same car after it has transformed into a robot. The game will include cars from six car makers: Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, Mitsuoka, and Mitsubishi.
The game will be available in arcades in Japan on June 21.
A television anime series adaptation of the game will premiere this October. The team behind the Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road game, led by Ryūtarō Ichimura (Dragon Quest VIII, Dragon Quest IX), is developing the arcade game while A-1 Pictures is producing the television anime series. The mechanical designers include Junya Ishigaki, Shōji Kawamori, Kanetake Ebikawa, Naohiro Washio, Shinobu Tsuneki, Fumihiro Katagai, Ryō Hirata, and others.
A Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter manga series debuted in the first monthly issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine in December. A video game for the Nintendo 3DS handheld system will ship in spring 2013. Toys, card supplies, gadgets, and other tie-in projects are also planned.
