Pokémon's Team Rocket Gets Their Own Radio Show, Twitter Account

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Jessie, James, Meowth lead evil syndicate's apparent world recruitment campaign

The Pokémon franchise story's evil organization Team Rocket will launch their own program on Tokyo's InterFM radio station at 7:00 p.m. on July 1. The 30-minute Pokémon Radio Show! Rocket-dan Himitsu Teikoku (Pokémon Radio Show! Team Rocket's Secret Empire) show will focus on activities of the Pokémon-stealing syndicate's members around the world.

The Pokémon anime series' primary Team Rocket trio members Musashi (Jessie; voiced by Megumi Hayashibara in Japanese), Kojirō (James; Shinichirō Miki), and Nyarth (Meowth; Inuko Inuyama) will host the program. The characters will aim to help the Team Rocket mastermind Sakaki (Giovanni) by recruiting new members through the radio show. Each program will feature "Pokémon-raising specialists" who offer advice on raising Pokémon. Pikachu voice actress Ikue Ohtani will appear as a guest in the first episode.

Team Rocket also set up their own Twitter account on June 1, which is apparently written by Sakaki. The account's stated purpose is to host a wide Team Rocket recruitment campaign to further the group's goal of world conquest.

Pokémon Radio Show! Rocket-dan Himitsu Teikoku will air every Sunday in Tokyo on the 76.1 MHz frequency and in Yokohama on the 76.5 MHz frequency.
