Magical girl franchise's 1st 3DS game to ship on August 2 with fairy tale twist

Namco Bandai Games began streaming the first promotional video for Smile Precure! Let's Go! Märchen World on Sunday. The three-minute video highlights some of the game's fairy tale scenarios as well as its photo and storybook reading modes.

The game's first commercial began airing this past weekend. Enterbrain's Famitsu magazine revealed the game last month.

Players will complete minigames to overcome "bad energy" and restore happy endings in various classic stories and fairy tales ("märchen" in German). The eight featured tales will be Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, The Tortoise and the Hare, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Hansel and Gretel, Tsuru no Ongaeshi, and Snow White.

When players clear each story's minigame, outfits and decorations inspired by the story will become available. Players will then dress their Precure franchise characters in clothes from the stories and pose them to the beat of a tambourine in the game's fashion show mode. The picture mode will allow players to create photographs of themselves beside images of Precure characters. In picture book reading mode, Precure characters will read the classic tales aloud.

The magical girl franchise's first 3DS game will ship in Japan on August 2 for 5,040 yen (about US$63).

The ninth Precure magical girl television anime series, Smile Precure, premiered in Japan on February 5.
