Star Driver the Movie Previewed Before February 2013 Opening

posted on by Egan Loo
Blu-ray Box, Songs & Soundtracks collection for TV series also revealed

The official website for Star Driver the Movie opened on Wednesday and revealed more details about the upcoming anime film, including the first piece of visual art and the opening date: February 9, 2013. The site describes the film as a "new construction" of the Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto story that revolves around the fates of Takuto, Wako, and Sugata. It will also have an all-new segment about their lives after the story of the television series.

The website confirms that the main staff is returning from the television series at the anime studio BONES, including director Takuya Igarashi, scriptwriter Yoji Enokido, original character designer Hiroka Mizuya and Misa Mizuya, character designer/chief animation director Yoshiyuki Itō, Cybody designer Shigeto Koyama, conceptual designer Shinji Aramaki, and composers Satoru Kousaki and monaca.

Similarly, the main cast is returning:

Advance tickets will go on sale on September 22 with a "Super Galaxy Film Card" for 1,500 yen (about US$19). The film will play in at least two dozen theaters. Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine and Tokuma Shoten's Animage magazine will both feature art for the film on Monday. Newtype will also have an article with Igarashi, Enokido, and Koyama, as well as comments from Miyano, Fukuyama, and Hayami after the dialogue recording sessions.

Seiji Takeda, the chief producer for anime projects at the television station MBS, had revealed in January that a film version of the Star Driver television anime series is in the works.

The official website for the original television series also announced that the film's opening will be celebrated by a Blu-ray Box and a Songs & Soundtracks collection for the television version. Both will arrive in stores on January 23. The Blu-ray Box will include footage from events and other bonus extras, while the Songs & Soundtracks collection will include vocal songs, background music, and character theme songs on 3 CDs.

The series will re-air on the Tokyo MX TV station, starting on October 3 at 24:00 (effectively October 4 at midnight). The official website held a character popularity poll, and since Takuto won, it is offering a special computer wallpaper of him.
