Toma Ikuta to Star in Film of Crime Manga Mogura no Uta

We Were There film star to work with helmer Takashi Miike, writer Kankurō Kudō

Actor Toma Ikuta (We Were There, Akihabara @ DEEP, Honey and Clover) will star in Takashi Miike's 2014 live-action film adaptation of Noboru Takahashi's popular Mogura no Uta (Mole's Song) manga. Ikuta will play the title "mole" character Reiji Kikukawa, a police officer who goes undercover to infilitrate a gangster syndicate. Filming will begin this March.

As previously revealed, Kankurō Kudō (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, The Legend of Kamui, Maiko Haaaan!!!, Miike's Zebraman, Ping-Pong, Go) is handling the film's script.

Filming will begin at the end of this month and plans to wrap up in March.

Takahashi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Young Sunday magazine in 2005, but he moved the manga to Weekly Big Comic Spirits after Weekly Young Sunday ceased publication in 2008. Shogakukan will publish the 34th compiled book volume next month.
