Namco Bandai Games has confirmed that it will release the One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 sequel video game in North America. The company previously announced that the game would get a European release. Namco Bandai Games will release the game in both Europe and North America this summer for the PlayStation 3.
Namco Bandai Games also confirmed with the video game news website Siliconera that it will release the game via download as it did for the first One Piece Pirate Warriors game.
The sequel will be set in the New World arc of Eiichiro Oda's manga and Toei's anime adaptation with familiar but powered-up characters such as Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro. It will also introduce a new original mode, new characters such as Eneru, and new stages such as Skypiea. Omega/Tecmo KOEI is developing the game.
Namco Bandai Games Europe noted that the first game has sold more than 1.2 million copies worldwide.
The game will ship in Japan on both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita on March 20.
Update: Namco Bandai Games has confirmed with Siliconera that it will not be releasing the PlayStation Vita version in North America. Thanks, RyanSaotome.
