Girls prep for basketball tournament in game with new original anime

ASCII Media Works began streaming two promotional video for the Ro-Kyu-Bu! Himitsu no Otoshimono (Ro-Kyu-Bu!: The Secret Lost Items) PSP video game on Monday. The video features the theme song "21-Seiki 'Bi'shōjo" (21st Century "Bi"shōjo) by the voice cast. The second video features the theme song "21-Seiki 'Bi'shōjo" (21st Century "Bi"shōjo) by the voice cast. Voice actor Yūki Kaji narrates the latter promo as Subaru.

Sagu Aoyama's original novels follow Subaru Hasegawa, a high school freshman who joins the basketball team — but he soon finds out the team is inactive because the captain is suspected of being a lolicon. Instead, he get roped into being the coach of an elementary school's basketball team.

The tagline for the PSP game's trailer is "Let's return everyone's lost items!" In the game, the player assumes the role of Subaru as he learns about the opening of an autumn sports tournament at the end of September. Tomoka and the girls of the Keishin Academy mini basketball team want to use the holidays to set up a one-week training camp to compete. Upon hearing this, Subaru offers to join in too, of course, as a pure-hearted coach guiding the girls. However, it appears that Subaru and boy's basketball team captain Natsuhi Takenaka have another mission as well — finding the girls' priceless items.

Aoyama supervised the game, which has voice acting on all dialogue from the anime's cast: Kana Hanazawa as Tomoka Minato, Yuka Iguchi as Maho Misawa, Yōko Hikasa as Saki Nagatsuka, Rina Hidaka as Airi Kashii, and Yui Ogura as Hinata Hakamada.

The game will go on sale in Japan on June 20 in three editions: a limited edition for 10,290 yen (about US$110), a regular edition for 6,090 yen (US$65) and a download for 5,040 yen (US$53). The limited edition includes an original anime DVD entitled Tomoka no Ichigo Sunday (Tomoka's Strawberry Sunday). The promotional video for the OAD was revealed in March.

Last June, North American distributor Sentai Filmworks relinquished the license to the first Ro-Kyu-Bu! anime series after the production committee of the first season requested a buyback for all home video rights outside of Asia.

The new Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS anime will premiere this July.
