Man Arrested for Stealing Limited Pokémon Edition 3DS From Boy

posted on

Kōshien Police arrested 32-year-old male construction worker Seiji Saihara in Nishinomiya City on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a Nintendo 3DS system from a grade schooler. According to the authorities, the suspect stole the limited-edition, Pokémon-imprinted system and four software titles (worth about 25,000 yen or about US$250) from a Nishinomiya park on February 23 in the afternoon. A 10-year-old fifth-grade boy had put the system and games in the front basket of his bicycle.

According to the police, the suspect then sold the system to a game store in the city. The boy's friend discovered the system being sold as a used item at the store. The boy confirmed the system was his with the warranty slip and contacted the police.
