Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda Teases 'World's On Fire' Animated Music Video

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Linkin Park alumni Mike Shinoda teased a music video for his song "World's On Fire" during Crunchyroll's Anime Expo industry panel. The animated video homages anime style art as the medium has had a long-lasting influence on Shinoda.

He explained during the panel, “My music and anime have had a long history crossing paths, from the fan videos edited over Linkin Park's music, to our original video for 'Breaking The Habit.' This new video for ‘World's On Fire’ is a lighthearted video that focuses on a female protagonist as she learns to control her unique power."

Shinoda also shared the character and monster designs and storyboards from the video.

Since the release of Linkin Park's hit album Hybrid Theory in 2000, fans have used many of the band's songs for fan-made anime music videos (AMV).

In 2004, Studio Gonzo animated the music video for the band's "Breaking the Habit" song. Kazuto Nakazawa supervised the animation. The music video won the 2004 MTV VMA Viewer's Chōice Award. The band has also contributed songs to several of the Hollywood Transformers films. The figuremaker Good Smile Company recreated the band as Nendoroids in 2012.

Shinoda released his EP Post Traumatic in 2018 to work through the passing of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington in 2017.
