Anime Lecture Series: Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits

The Minneapolis College of Art is offering a set of lectures, film screenings, and anime-related events during the weekend of September 14th. Registration is $60.

On 14-16 September, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design will host an "intensive study" of anime and manga entitled "Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits". Events will include presentations by several speakers, screenings of anime films, and a drawing workshop. Guests and speakers include anime/manga scholars Dr. Sharon Kinsella (Yale University), who has recently published a book on shoujo manga, Dr. Marc Hairston (University of Texas), a frequent contributor to Animerica Magazine, Phil Anderson (Minneapolis College of Art and Design) and Maggie Weidner (Stanford University); CPM Manga Editor-in-Chief Christopher Couch, Eri Izawa, of EX Magazine, and Lea Hernandez, the artist and author of American manga titles _Cathedral Child_, _Clockwork Angels_, and _Rumble Girls: Silky Warrior Tansie_ The registration fee for the seminar is $60, while for $505 it can be taken as a for-credit academic course.
