Promoted in mall stores, California tree-lighting, "ninja activities"

The Internet portal Lycos has released its annual list of the most popular terms related to toys and games, and the Naruto ninja franchise and the Pokémon game franchise have placed in the top three. Poker accessories, such as chips and cards, took the first spot on the 2007 Lycos 50, but they are closely followed by Naruto toys at #2 and Pokémon at #3. Harry Potter and Webkinz complete the top five. Poker-related queries account for only three percent more search activity than Naruto. This is the eighth time that Lycos has published the Top Toys List. Pokemon have appeared on it in previous years, while Yu-Gi-Oh! has not appeared on the top ten list since 2004.

Viz Media is promoting the three-disc deluxe edition of the first Naruto movie with commercials and a contest in f.y.e., Suncoast, and other Trans World Entertainment-owned stores and websites. In its hometown of San Francisco, the company is co-sponsoring Macy's downtown Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday with a Shonen Jump Naruto tent and "ninja activities."
