Tekkonkinkreet, N.Y. Salad, Dororo Win Technical Awards

Vexille, Freedom, SOS Next also honored in awards for anime, visual effects

The Motion Picture and Television Engineering Society awarded the 7th Film and Video Technical Awards. Takuma Sakamoto, the CGI director on the Tekkonkinkreet urban life story (pictured at right) from Michael Arias and Studio 4°C, won the award in the Theatrical Film Anime category, while the N.Y. Salad Production Committee won for the whimsical vegetable tale Yasai no Yousei - N.Y. Salad from creator Yoshitaka Amano. Honorable mention in the anime categories went to the Komatori Eiga Komaneko film's Tsuneo Gōda (Dwarf Inc.), the Vexille film's Tadao Matsuno (TBS), Freedom video series' director Shuhei Morita, and SOS! Tokyo Metro Explorers: The Next video's CGI director Masashi Kokubo.

The Links Digiworks team (Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack, Shinobi, Devil May Cry 3 game, Biohazard game) on Akihiko Shiota's live-action Dororo film (pictured at left) won the award in the Visual Effects (VFX) category, while Special Effects Studio's Nobuaki Koga earned honorable mention for his work on Katsuhiro Otomo's live-action Mushishi film. Sakuran, the live-action adaptation of Moyoco Anno's manga, earned honorable mention in sound and art.
