2nd Death Note Film to Run in Canadian Theaters

posted on by Egan Loo
Manga-based live-action film to be screened with English dubbing on December 3

Viz Pictures, the live-action film affiliate of the manga and anime distributor Viz Media, has announced that it will screen the live-action Death Note II: The Last Name film in select Cineplex Entertainment and Empire Theatres locations "in nearly every major Canadian city" on December 3. Director Shusuke Kaneko adapted Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's manga into two movies about a deadly cat-and-mouse game between a boy who can put people to death with a supernatural notebook, and the genius detective who tracks down the young vigilante. The first film already screened in Canadian theaters in September and shipped on DVD that same month. The second film will screen with English dubbing, an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, and an interview with Kaneko. It screened with the same features in American theaters in October.

More information, advance tickets, and a complete list of participating theatres are available at www.DeathNoteFilms.com, www.cineplex.com, or www.empiretheatres.com/deathnote. Tickets will go on sale on November 7. Viz Media has also released the original manga, a television anime adaptation, and a spinoff novel.
