Comedian Shinagawa's Drop Brawl Film Trailer Streamed

posted on by Egan Loo

The Japanese website for Hiroshi Shinagawa's live-action adaptation of his own Drop coming-of-age story began streaming a full trailer. The film retells a loosely autobiographical story of how a boy named Hiroshi Shinanogawa was inspired by the Be-Bop High School fighting manga to join a delinquent gang. The real-life Shinagawa is one half of the Shinagawa Shōji comedy duo. He originally wrote his story as a 2006 novel with illustrations by manga artist Hiroshi Takahashi (Crows, Worst). Another manga artist, Dai Suzuki, adapted the novel for Akita Shoten's Monthly Shonen Champion magazine in 2007, and the fifth compiled volume of the manga shipped in November. Hiroki Narimiya (Nana, Gokusen) will star in the film as the fictional Hiroshi Shinanogawa. The film will open in Japan on March 20.
