Damian Jay, Chris Ware Win Ignatz Awards over Taniguchi

<p>The 2009 Ignatz Awards were presented at the Small Press Expo in Maryland last Saturday. Damian Jay won the Outstanding Story category for his "Willy" comic in the Tugboat anthology <cite>Papercutter</cite> #10. (A three-page excerpt can be <a href="http://blog.damienjay.com/?p=150" target="_blank">previewed</a> on Jay's blog.) Chris Ware won the Outstanding Graphic Novel category for his work in <cite class="e company"><a href="/encyclopedia/company.php?id=9403">Drawn & Quarterly</a></cite>'s <cite>Acme Novelty Library</cite> #19 issue. <cite class="e person"><a href="/encyclopedia/people.php?id=7249">Hideo Azuma</a></cite>'s autobiographical <cite><cite class="e anime"><a href="/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=6570">Disappearance Diary</a></cite></cite><cite class="e anime"><a href="/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=39851">!<i> manga</i></a></cite> (<cite class="e company"><a href="/encyclopedia/company.php?id=5174">Fanfare / Ponent Mon</a></cite>) was <a href="/news/2009-08-27/disappearance-diary-nominated-for-ignatz-award">nominated</a> in both categories.
