The first Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) will be hosting back-to-back screenings of the Gurren Lagann compilation movies, Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End- and Gurren Lagann The Movie 2: The Lights in the Sky are Stars. The expo will be held from April 16 to April 18 at the Lakeside Center at McCormick Place in Chicago. Aniplex previously premiered the English-subbed first part of Gainax's theatrical remake of its Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann robot action anime series, Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End-, at Anime Expo in July 2009. The Viz Cinema theater in San Francisco then held the American premiere of the second film, Gurren Lagann The Movie 2: The Lights in the Sky are Stars, in November. Bandai Entertainment brought the original television series to North America on DVD, as well as on the Sci Fi Channel (through Manga Entertainment).

Aniplex America, who will also host a panel at the convention, launched a website earlier this month under the domain name

C2E2 will also screen Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Jo) and Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers during the convention.
