Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl Anime to End, New Series Planned (Updated)

The TV Tokyo broadcasting station has confirmed on Thursday that the Pokémon - Diamond and Pearl television anime series will end this fall, but preparations are being made for a new series to take its place. TV Tokyo plans to reveal more information about those preparations in future announcements. The Pokémon - Diamond and Pearl television series has been running on TV Tokyo since September of 2006.
The Nintendo game company has already revealed that it will ship a new series of Pokemon: Black and Pokemon: White games for the Nintendo DS consoles in Japan this fall.
The first Pokémon (Pocket Monsters) television anime series ran in Japan from 1997 to 2002, and it premiered in America in 1998. Cartoon Network's Boomerang spinoff television channel for "cartoon classics" began airing the first Pokémon series this month. The Pokemon Advance (Pocket Monsters: Advanced Generation) television sequel ran in Japan from 2002 to 2006, and it premiered in America in 2003. Pokémon - Diamond and Pearl premiered in America in 2007.
