Hikaru Utada Song Listed as Ashita no Joe Film Theme

posted on by Gia Manry
Live-action film starring Tomohisa Yamashita to open in Japan next February

EMI Music Japan's website lists singer Hikaru Utada's upcoming single "Show Me Love (Not A Dream)" as a theme for the upcoming live-action film based on Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba's 1968 manga Ashita no Joe. The film stars Tomohisa Yamashita (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Kurosagi) of the idol group NEWS as Joe Yabuki, an orphan in the slums who rises up in the world by boxing.

The Daily Cyzo web magazine revealed the live-action film this past February, and the Sankei Sports newspaper then confirmed the news in March. The film's official website began streaming a teaser for the film in August.

Utada announced in August that she would go on an indefinite break from her musical career in 2011.
