Yuuki Obata's shōjo romance published by N. America's Viz Media; already has anime

The April 2011 issue of Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine is announcing on Saturday that a live-action film adaptation of Yuuki Obata's We Were There (Bokura ga Ita) shōjo romance manga has been green-lit. The story follows a girl named Nanami Takahashi as she struggles with her relationship with Motoharu Yano, her high school's most popular boy who has his own issues from his past.

The 14 volumes of the manga has sold over 10 million copies in Japan since 2002. Viz Media will publish the 12th volume in North America in May. The manga already inspired a television anime series from Artland in 2006.
