Kare Kano/His and Her Circumstances Returns in 1-Shot Manga

Creator Masami Tsuda is bringing her Kare Kano (Kareshi Kanojo no Jijō/His and Her Circumstances) romance manga back in the form of a one-shot story next month — six years after the main series ended. The "Chotto Kare Kano Kareshi Kanojo no Jijō Tokubetsu-Hen" (Chotto Kare Kano/His and Her Circumstances Special Edition) will appear in the June issue of Hakusensha's shōjo magazine LaLa on April 23.
Tsuda has been serializing her historical manga Chotto Edo Made in the same magazine since 2008. The new Kare Kano one-shot story will put the Kare Kano lead characters Yukino and Arima in the Edo period setting of Chotto Edo Made, 150 years ago.
The main Kare Kano manga series ran in LaLa from 1996 to 2005, and Gainax adapted it into a 1998-1999 television anime series. Tokyopop published the manga in North America, and The Right Stuf International released the anime. Hakusensha will begin reissuing the manga in a smaller 10-volume bunko release in Japan on April 22.
