Japan's Animation DVD Ranking, March 21-27

The only animated work in the chart of the top 30 DVDs overall this past week was an American film, Despicable Me. Many anime distributors had to delay their DVDs this week due to the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster — with the notable exception of Kadokawa Shoten. Five of the seven new releases in the top 30 animation DVDs of the week (Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru, Sora no Otoshimono: Forte, Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) were from Kadokawa Shoten. Five of the seven new releases (Yosuga no Sora, Sora no Otoshimono F, Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, Fortune Arterial, Panty & Stocking) were also from series that never ranked in the weekly top 30 animation DVDs before.
The regular edition of Tensō Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger Epic on Ginmaku, the live-action special-effects film with heroes from Toei's 33rd and 34th Super Sentai series, moved into #25 with 2,593 more copies sold. It now has a total of 3,414.
The regular edition for the live-action film adaptation of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke romantic comedy manga dropped from #22 to #27 in its third week. It sold 2,385 more copies to add to its total of 9,958.
