My Melody's first tie-in bundle fan book tops fashion book chart

The 28th volume of Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter X Hunter manga sold 571,502 copies in its first official week of sales to top Oricon's comic sales chart for the July 4-10 week. The manga is returning to Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine next month after Togashi's latest hiatus of about a year.

The 28th volume already sold 61,580 before it officially went on sale on July 4, so it now has a total of 633,082 copies sold. The 29th volume is slated for August 4.

Togashi was known for earlier manga such as Yu Yu Hakusho and Level E before he launched Hunter X Hunter in 1998. Since then, he has taken a number of breaks for "creative reasons," only to return with renewed readership numbers.

Eight of the top 10 manga this past week were new manga from Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, such as Hunter X Hunter #28, Gintama #40, Toriko #15, and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan #17.

In the separate fashion book category, Sanrio's My-Melo X HbG Special Collaborative Pouch Bundle! Love Love My Melody book topped the chart in its first week of sales. My Melody is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year with its first official fan book with a tie-in bundle.
