The 2,318th issue of Nihonbungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku magazine is announcing on Friday that manga creator Kaiji Kawaguchi (Zipang, Eagle, The Silent Service) is launching a new series with Shikakumaru in the next issue on June 22. Rijin no Fushigi na Yakyū (Rijin's Mysterious Baseball) will start with a 44-page chapter (along with a color opening page and an illustration on the magazine's cover).

To celebrate the launch of the new manga, 10 readers will receive baseballs signed by Kawaguchi as presents.

Kawaguchi drew the time-travelling war manga Zipang in Kodansha's Morning magazine until 2009, and he just ended his Boku wa Beatles manga in February. Kawaguchi has been serializing another manga, the historical series Hyōma no Hata ~Revolutionary Wars~ (Hyōma's Flag ~Revolutionary Wars~), since last year.

Viz published Kawaguchi's Eagle manga in North America. Central Park Media released The Silent Service anime special, and Geneon Entertainment (USA) released the Zipang television anime.
