Game maker Nintendo announced on Wednesday that it is reporting operating losses of 10.331 billion yen (about US$132 million) and net losses of 17.231 billion yen (about US$221 million) for their first quarter (April to June) of the 2012 fiscal year. Over the same period in 2011, the company reported a 37.712 billion yen (about US$483 million) operating loss and a 25.516 billion yen (about US$327 million) net loss. The company's Nintendo 3DS handheld console sold 1.86 million units over the period worldwide, while the Wii console sold 710,000 units. Software sales for the two systems came to 7.39 million and 8.47 million units, respectively.
