Resident Evil 6, Left 4 Dead 2 Unite for Zombie Mash-Up

RE6 PC adds free L4D2 characters on April 5; L4D2's RE6 content comes later

CAPCOM and Valve are collaborating on a project to bring playable characters from Left 4 Dead 2 to a special game mode in the new Resident Evil 6 for PC, while enemies from Resident Evil 6 will appear in Left 4 Dead 2 for PC. Users will be able to access the crossover content on each game for free.

In the "Mercenaries: No Mercy" mode on CAPCOM's Resident Evil 6 for PC, players can choose from one of the four survivors (Coach, Nick, Ellis, or Rochelle) from Left 4 Dead 2, and the character will have a special customized weapon loadout created only for the new content. Two of the Special Infected zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise, the Witch and the Mini Tank, will also appear in Mercenaries: No Mercy. The content will be automatically available to all owners of the PC version from April 5. Resident Evil producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi explains the features in a video interview:

In the Left 4 Dead 2 PC game, Resident Evil 6 enemies such as the Lepotitsa, Napad, and Ogroman will be jumping out at players. The new additions are made possible through the use of Valve developers' Steam Workshop tools. A set release date for the content has not yet been determined, but it has been tentatively scheduled for release in the spring.
