Discotek Confirms 2 Unico Films' Blu-ray Disc Release

Discotek released the films in N. America on DVD last year
North American video distributor Discotek Media announced on Friday that it will release the The Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Unico in the Island of Magic films as a double feature Blu-ray Disc later this year. The Fantastic Adventures of Unico was directed by original manga creator Osamu Tezuka and Toshio Hirata (Pet Shop of Horrors) in 1981. Unico in the Island of Magic followed in 1983 with director Moribi Murano.
Discotek Media released the films in North America on DVD last year. The Japanese Blu-ray release of both films is scheduled for July 23 with the English dub and English subtitles.
Discotek revealed on Sunday that it has licensed a 1970s-era Toei anime production. The title of the acquisition has yet to be revealed.
