Xbox One Console to Retail for US$499 in November

posted on

Microsoft revealed during its live E3 press event on Monday that the next-generation Xbox One console will retail for US$499 on November 21. At launch, the console will include a 500GB hard drive, a Blu-ray drive, built-in WiFi, a Kinect peripheral, a wireless controller, and a 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold.

The system will launch in November in 21 markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe. The Xbox One will retail for £429 in the U.K. and €499 in Europe. Xbox Live will sell items and services in the user's local currency on Xbox One, instead of the "Microsoft Points" used on previous consoles.

A limited-edition launch console will also be available in premium black packaging with a Xbox One Day One wireless controller. Exclusive downloadable content for Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5, Kinect Sports Rivals, and Dead Rising 3 will be included in the commemorative bundle.

Previous estimates by analysts predicted Sony's PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One to retail for US$400.
