Tower Records reported on Thursday more details about the anime adaptation of Vocaloid musical composer and writer Jin's (Shizen no Teki-P) Kagerō Project (Heat Mirage Project). Akiyuki Shinbo (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari) will direct the anime titled Mekaku City Actors, at the studio SHAFT (Arakawa Under the Bridge, Sayonara, Zetsubo Sensei). Tower Records is reporting that the on-air date for the anime is still undecided.
Jin garnered a fan following with Kagerō Project music videos performed by virtual Vocaloid voices and posted on the niconico (formerly Nico Nico Douga) streaming service, such as this one for "Children Record:"

The Kagerō Project already has novel and manga adaptations under the name of one of the songs, "Kagerō Days." Both adaptations are set in August, when the air is alive with the buzzing of cicadas and the shimmering of heat mirages. An "incident" in a certain town is seen through the eyes of different people.
