New Super Mario Bros. 2 Sets Trillion-Coin Record

Since its release last year, players of New Super Mario Bros. 2 have collected over one trillion gold coins. As of this writing, the worldwide total is 1,036,727,266,600 coins. Coins are continually added to the tally as gamers play.
Players collected 36.4 billion coins as of last August. A new mode known as "Coin Rush" was recently added, allowing players to gather as many coins as possible with only one life.
