U.K. Animax Anime Video On Demand Site Launched by Sony this Autumn

Content deal with Viz Media; channel will screen titles including Death Note, Bleach, Black Lagoon.

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks has announced it will launch a UK version of the anime channel, Animax, as a subscription video on demand service.

According to the press release, it will launch at www.animaxtv.co.uk this Autumn, followed by a roll-out on other platforms and devices. SPT Networks UK has agreed a "multi-year volume deal with Viz Media to secure exclusive content." Animax is already available in 17 countries, including Japan.

Titles named in the initial press release include Death Note, Vampire Knight, Bleach and Black Lagoon.
