Steins;Gate: Senkei Kōsoku no Phenogram Vita's Opening Streamed

posted on by Egan Loo
Vita port of PS3/Xbox game ships on November 28 with new Ayane song, cast DVD, Ūpa bandages

The game company 5pb. (MAGES.) began streaming the opening movie from the PS Vita port of the Steins;Gate Senkei Kōsoku no Phenogram (Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram) game on Friday. The video features "Kaikō no Fetariteeto," the opening theme song by Ayane (Hyperdimension Neptunia , Steins;Gate Fuka Ryōiki no Déjà vu, Ayakashi).

The Steins;Gate story revolves around Rintaro Okabe, a self-proclaimed "mad scientist" who believes that an international scientific organization named SERN is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He inadvertently creates a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Okabe is the only one aware of these changes because he possesses a Reading Steiner, the ability to retain the memories from previous experienced timelines. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab partners.

The Steins;Gate Senkei Kōsoku no Phenogram game features self-continued episodes told from the viewpoints of the other characters besides Okabe, such as his childhood friend Mayuri ("Mayushii") and lab member Kurisu Makise.

The game was originally announced for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2012, and it shipped in Japan on April 25. The PS Vita version will ship on November 28.

The standard edition of the Vita version will retail for 7,140 yen (about US$72) while the limited edition will retail for 9,240 yen (US$93). The limited edition will include a bonus DVD with a "Much Adob About 4°C" variety show starring the cast members, as well as a set of 10 different Ūpa bandages.

JAST USA revealed this past July that it plans to release the original Steins;Gate visual novel for the PC in North America.
