Bandai's story of girls who attend academy for idols currently has 2 TV anime series
The April issue of Shogakukan's Ciao magazine is announcing on March 3 that an anime film adaptation of Bandai's Aikatsu! franchise for young girls has been green-lit, and will premiere this December. The official website for the film has not opened as of press time.
Bandai announced the orginal idol-themed card game and its anime adaptation in 2012. Sunrise animated the first series, and is also animating the second series, which is currently airing on TV Tokyo. The story revolves around Ichigo, who was just a normal middle school student until she suddenly got involved in the world of idols.
Update: Premiere date fixed.
