Mighty No. 9 Unveils Gameplay Trailer, PS4 Special Edition

posted on by Karen Ressler
Cross-buy feature, pre-order DLC also unveiled for PlayStation editions

The North American PlayStation blog began streaming a gameplay trailer for Keiji Inafune and comcept's Mighty No. 9 game on Wednesday.

The blog also announced that players who preorder the game on PlayStation consoles will receive DLCs for a retro hero character model and an intstant-death mode. The PlayStation 4 retail edition will include a DLC for a new stage and boss, a double-sided poster, and an art booklet. The PlayStation 4 collector's edition will include a 6.5" figurine of Beck and a foil signature from Inafune on the box for US$59.99. The collector's edition is only available in North America.

Finally, the blog announced that the game will support Cross-Buy on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, meaning players can get the game on all three consoles when buying one edition. This is applicable to both physical and digital editions.

Comcept is partnering with game publisher Deep Silver to release the multi-platform video game this fall. The game will debut for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 15 in North America and September 18 for the rest of the world. The portable version for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita will follow.

Physical copies of the 2D side-scroller will be available for Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PC, Linux, and Mac. The game will be available digitally for all platforms.

Mighty No. 9 was initially set to ship this spring. Inafune (Megaman) and his company raised more than US$3.5 million in its crowdfunding campaign for the game in October 2013. Tokyo-based animation company Digital Frontier is developing a CG-animated series for a worldwide market.

Comcept describes the game's story:

In the year 20XX, breakthroughs in robotic technology have ushered in a new era of peace & prosperity. Violence is confined to the Battle Coliseum, where robot combatants face off in spectacular duels. Dr. White created 9 robot siblings known as the “Mighty Numbers”, who were the most popular and powerful team of robots in the Battle Coliseum and always in the top ranks. But, during one competition there was a cyber-attack, infecting them with a computer virus causing them to become crazed and rampant. You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by the mysterious computer virus that caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk.

Comcept announced the English dub cast for the game on February, and the Japanese dub cast last month.
