Pokédex for iOS App Goes Out of Service

posted on by Karen Ressler
Customer service, updates to end on paid app

The Pokémon Company announced last Thursday that service on its Pokédex for iOS app will end on November 30, 2015. The app and any additional data already purchased will continue to work, but the customer support services will be shut down and updates will be discontinued.

The Pokémon Company launched the app in Japan in November 2012, and in Europe and the Americas in December 2012.

The app starts with information on Pokémon from the Unova region (Pokédex numbers 494-647) for US$1.99. Customers can then purchase additional packs for US$5.99 each featuring data from the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh regions. The app provides information on the look of each Pokémon, its basic stats, moves, abilities, where it can be found, what types of moves are strong against it, among other information.
