Young Black Jack Anime Details More Guest Characters From Tezuka Manga

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official Twitter account for the television anime of Yū-Go Ōkuma and Yoshiaki Tabata's Young Black Jack manga announced four more guest characters on Friday that will appear in the seventh and eighth episodes of the anime. These characters have appeared in Osamu Tezuka's other works, although they do not have the same roles and names that they have in other manga.

Hiroyuki Yoshino as Johnny Bassett, a nonresistance leader. He previously appeared in Alabaster as James Block.

Lynn as Tiara, Johnny's childhood friend. She previously appeared in Alabaster as Ami Ozawa.

Jin Yamanoi as Lisenberg, an authority on cerebral medicine who is familiar with battle stress syndrome. He previously appeared in Tezuka's Midnight manga.

Hidenori Takahashi as Thomas Williams (aka: Tommy), a person who has experienced battle stress-related symptoms after fighting in Vietnam. He previously appeared in Tezuka's Rainbow Parakeet (Nanairo Inko) manga.

The Twitter account also revealed that Hugo (played by Shunsuke Takeuchi) will also reappear in the show's eighth episode. He previously appeared in the third episode, and his character is from Tezuka's The Book of Human Insects.

Previous other guest characters from Tezuka's famous "Star System" appeared in previous episodes of the series.

Yū-Go Ōkuma and Yoshiaki Tabata's Young Black Jack manga is a prequel to Black Jack, Osamu Tezuka's classic series about a brilliant maverick doctor who practices without a license. The prequel follows Black Jack when he was still a young, unorthodox medical student in 1968.

The 12-episode series premiered on October 1 in Japan, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series in various territories as it airs. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for home video.
