The official website of 5pb. Games' Steins;Gate Elite game revealed on Wednesday that the game's release date has been delayed from March 15 to a general 2018 release date. The announcement noted that the delay was to ensure the game's quality.
The game will launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch platforms in Japan.
Steins;Gate Elite is a major update of the original Steins;Gate game from Mages with new elements. The game replaces scenes in the original visual novel with scenes from the anime adaptation. 5pb. Games previously streamed a commercial for the game last November that hinted that "world lines" that were not animated in the anime are "being experimented."
Set in Tokyo's Akihabara district, the original game followed Rintarō Okabe as he changes fate by travelling between different world lines. The game inspired a 2011 television anime as well as the Steins;Gate: The Movie - Load Region of Déjà Vu sequel, and the game franchise boasts over 1 million copies. The followup game Steins;Gate 0 is inspiring its own anime project.
PQube released the Steins;Gate 0 game on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Europe and North America in November 2016.
