News Aniplex USA Licenses Persona 5 Anime

Aniplex of America announced on Thursday that it has licensed A-1 Pictures' television anime of Atlus' Persona 5 game. The company also opened an English website for the anime, and lists streaming details as "coming soon."
Aniplex of America previously streamed an English-subtitled trailer for the anime on Wednesday.
The voice cast members from the game are reprising their roles for the anime:
- Jun Fukuyama as the protagonist Ren Amamiya
- Mamoru Miyano as Ryuji Sakamoto
- Ikue Ōtani as Morgana
- Nana Mizuki as Anne Takamaki
- Tomokazu Sugita as Yusuke Kitagawa
- Rina Satou as Makoto Niijima
- Aoi Yūki as Futaba Sakura
- Haruka Tomatsu as Haru Okumura
- Sōichiro Hoshi as Goro Akechi
Masashi Ishihama (From the New World, Kamichu!) is directing PERSONA 5 the Animation, and the game franchise's producer Katsura Hashino is credited with the original story concept. Satomi Ishikawa (Convenience Store Boy Friends) is adapting Shigenori Soejima's original game character designs for animation. Kazuma Kaneko is credited for having drawn the original demon designs from the game. Shinichi Inotsume (Persona 5 the Animation -The Day Breakers-, Hayate the Combat Butler, Sket Dance) is in charge of the series scripts. Shōji Meguro is returning from the game to compose the anime's music.
The latest entry in the Persona role-playing game series shipped for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on September 15, 2016. The game shipped in North America on April 4, 2017 after a delay.
The Persona 5 the Animation -The Day Breakers- television anime special by A-1 Pictures aired on September 3, 2016. The special recounts the prologue story of the young thief organization at the center of the game. Crunchyroll streamed the television special, and Aniplex of America released it on an import Blu-ray Disc of the Collector's Edition in February 2017.
