Author launches new work about university ekiden race in 2019

This year's 40th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine published the final chapter on Monday of Shin Takahashi's (Saikano) Kanata Kakeru manga. The issue also revealed that Takahashi will launch a new work about the university ekiden race in 2019.

Takahashi launched Kanata Kakeru in Big Comic Spirits in January 2016. The manga's 10th and final compiled volume will ship on October 30.

The story centers on one girl and two boys. An ekiden (long-distance relay race) comes to a certain town once a year. The trio participate in the race as they pass through youth in this classic ekiden story.

Viz Media released Takahashi's Saikano manga in North America. The series inspired a television anime, original video anime, and live-action film. Takahashi's other manga include Iihito, Saishū Heiki Kanojo Another World, Yuki ni Tsubasa, and and Hatsukoi Honya.
