Star ☆ Twinkle Precure Anime Gets Film on October 19

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Toei announced on Sunday that its Star ☆ Twinkle Precure anime series is getting a film titled Eiga Star ☆ Twinkle Precure that will premiere on October 19. Toei revealed two visuals (an "Earth" version and a "Space" version) for the film. Illustrator Makiko Inatome drew the visuals.

The tagline on the left visual reads, "Let's sing a song, so we can become a guidepost," and the tagline on the right visual reads, "We are, everyone, in the middle of a journey." Yūta Tanaka (Go! Princess Precure, Eiga Mahō Tsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun!) is directing the film. Toei stated that the film's theme will be "bonds," and will feature the "most painful and warm" story in the film series so far.

Star ☆ Twinkle Precure is the 16th and newest Precure (Pretty Cure) television anime series, and it premiered on February 3.

The story of Star ☆ Twinkle Precure begins when the protagonist Hikaru meets aliens Lala, Prunce, and Fuwa while watching the night sky. She learns of the "Star Palace," where the 12 Star Princesses of the constellations kept the balance of the universe until they were attacked. Lala is searching for the legendary Precure warriors to help find the 12 scattered "Princess Star Color Pens" and revive the princesses. When Fuwa is captured by an enemy, Hikaru wishes to save Fuwa, and a Star Color Pendent and a Star Color Pen appear to allow her to transform into Cure Star. From then on she works to collect the pens and raise Fuwa, who is the key to reviving the princesses.

The show stars:

Hiroaki Miyamoto (One Piece Film Gold) is directing the series and Isao Murayama (Maho Girls Precure!) is organizing the series. Akira Takahashi (Suite Precure, Dokidoki! Precure) is designing the characters. Series regular Ryuutarou Masuda is handling the art design along with Riho Iida. Yuki Hayashi (Hugtto! Precure, My Hero Academia) and Asami Tachibana (Haikyu!!, DARLING in the FRANXX) are composing the music. Rie Kitagawa is performing the opening theme song "Kirari ☆ 彡 Star ☆ Twinkle Precure" and Chiha Yoshitake is performing the ending song "Papepipu ☆ Romantic."
