Anime premieres on July 6, also streams on Crunchyroll

Aniplex of America announced on Thursday that Funimation will stream a simulcast of Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace note, the anime adaptation of Makoto Sanda's Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo (The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II) mystery novel spinoff series for Type-Moon's Fate franchise.

Aniplex of America previously announced that the anime will also stream on Crunchyroll.

The anime will air on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV on July 6 at 24:00 (effectively on July 7 at 12:00 a.m.), before airing a few hours later on MBS. The show will stream on 16 services in Japan. Anime Expo will screen the U.S. premiere of the first two episodes on July 4.

Makoto Katō (Beautiful Bones -Sakurako's Investigation-, Bloom Into You) is directing the series at TROYCA. Ukyō Kodachi (Chaos Dragon, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) is in charge of series composition. Jun Nakai (GATE, Silver Spoon) is designing the characters. Ei Aoki (Fate/Zero director) is credited as supervisor. Yuki Kajiura is composing and arranging the show's opening theme song "starting the case: Rail Zeppelin." Kajiura is also composing, arranging, and writing the lyrics for ASCA's ending theme song "Kōtenshi."

"Episode 0" of the anime premiered during a television special on December 31. Crunchyroll is streaming the episode in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

The novels center on the titular character Lord El-Melloi II — the adult Waver Velvet from Fate/Zero, and successor of Kayneth — as well as Lord El-Melloi II's apprentice Gray. The story takes place in the Clock Tower, the Mage's Association's headquarters in England. There, Lord El-Melloi II and Gray solve various mysteries of a magical nature surrounding the Mage's Association.
