Sentai Filmworks Licenses Chidori RSC Anime

Anime of Rifle Is Beautiful manga premieres in Japan on October 13

Sentai Filmworks announced on Thursday that it has licensed Chidori RSC, the television anime of Akki Sarumi's Rifle is Beautiful four-panel manga. The company will stream the series this fall and release it on home video in the future.

The series will premiere in Japan on October 13 at 11:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. EDT) on the Tokyo MX station, and it will also run on the Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11 channels.

The cast includes (Note: Character name romanizations are not official.):

  • Machico as Hikari Kokura
  • Akane Kumada as Izimi Shibusawa
  • Saki Minami as Erika Meinohama
  • Anna Yamaki as Yukio Igarashi
  • Natsumi Fujiwara as Akira Shinonome
  • Minami Takahashi as Karen Sakashita
  • M.A.O as Rei Asakura
  • Reina Ueda as Misa Kuroi
  • Manaka Iwami as Ryōko Mochizuki
  • Yukiyo Fujii as Yūko Tsurumaki
  • Azusa Tadokoro as Marina Tsuji
  • Hiyori Kono as Ako Tōma
  • Kaori Nazuka as Nodoka Ogura

Masanori Takahashi (When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace, For Whom the Alchemist Exists) is directing the series at Studio 3Hz. Tatsuya Takahashi (Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko, Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles) is in charge of the script and series composition. Ken Mukaigawara (Ange Vierge, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.

Rifling 4 - the idol unit formed by the four main voice actresses (Machico, Kumada, Minami, and Yamaki (seen above left) - are performing the opening theme song "Let's go! Rifling 4!!!!" and the ending theme song "Yūyake Friends" (Sunset Friends). The CD single with both songs will go on sale on November 6.

The manga's story follows Hikari Kokura, an incoming high school student who is excited to join her school's shooting club. When she gets there, she learns that the club has been shut down, and she must revive it.

The first chapter of the ongoing manga launched on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website in April 2015. Shueisha published the fifth compiled book volume on September 19.
