Tokyopop Acquires Marmalade Boy Anime

TOKYOPOP INC. SPREADS THE LOVE WITH RELEASE OF HIGHLY ANTICIPATED MARMALADE BOY ANIME

Wildly Popular Shojo Series Debuts April 2004 as a Special DVD Collector's Set

Big Apple Anime Fest, New York, NY (August 30, 2003)- No, there isn't anything funny about that tea you just drank and, yes, your eyes are fine... the headline is real! TokyoPop Inc. is pleased to announce the DVD release of Marmalade Boy, one of its most eagerly-awaited anime series. Come April 2004, the calls of myriad fans will be answered when the first exclusive collector's set debuts with 18 episodes on three DVDs-all enclosed in a stunning hard-cover case. Each DVD features both dubbed and subtitled versions, along with plenty of fun extras.

"Ever since we initially announced Marmalade Boy, we have been flooded with email, letters and phone calls from fans who are dying to see this unique series," said John Parker, TOKYOPOP's President and COO. "We were determined to do it right, and have finally developed a DVD release so cool, it will be well worth the wait."

Marmalade Boy comes from the imaginative mind of Wataru Yoshizumi-one of the world's premiere shojo creators. A cult classic in its native Japan, the property boasts 72 TV episodes, a movie prequel, eight volumes of highly successful manga also published by TOKYOPOP and-of course-a bevy of dedicated fans.

Modern day family life gets complicated in this teenage soap opera, a unique love story twisted with romance and angst. If you thought your family was strange, meet Miki, whose world is turned upside down when her parents swap spouses with another couple after a trip to Hawaii. Miki's life only gets weirder when she realizes that she's falling in love with her new stepbrother!
